The Boorach

With a number of alternative translations from the Gaelic, The Boorach was chosen as an appropriate name for the largely self built house built.

The Boorach "A mound; a heap of stones; a mess; a guddle; a cluster of people; a house that children built in play; a knoll; an enclosure..."

This 5 bedroomed, timber framed house was self built by a Heriot family. Whilst the one and a half storey exterior appears fairly traditional, the interior is split by a double height hall and dining room lit by a tall south facing gable window. A bridge across the hall at first floor level gives access to a master bedroom and ensuite shower room.
